Jon Gefaell (ex K4CQY)* was looking for an opportunity to BE the DX but didn't have much time or money on hand. After searching the Internet he found the W/VE Islands QSO Party was coming up in just a week! After finding that Farrar Island had been identified with a USI number but never activated it was decided to operate as an Island station and to activate this "new One". After borrowing a triple magmount and 20M Hamstick from Bob (K4DU)* and with support from his good friend Jay Rostow (K4AZV) off they went to campaign for points! They scored 3892, with 27 states and 5 provinces for multipliers. Good for Third in Class and a Walnut Plaque!

Old Jon at the mic! It was a heck of a lot of fun working the 'pileups' which sometimes got 4 or more deep. We operated for about 3.5 hours without much of a break. A REAL DXPedition is something to work up to!
